Hey sitters,
Do you have any great recipes for quick snacks that the kids absolutely love? Share them here!
Ants on a log:
Take celery stalks, cut off the leafy tops, and cut in half
Spread peanut butter in the "troughs" of the celery, and top with raisins or chocolate chips
Et voila!
I have an easy snack that is not that healthy, but tastes very good.
ok, take an apple (thats healthy) and cut it up into small pieces, and put into a bowl. then, put a lot of honey on top of it.|lastly, put sugar on top of that, and EATnot very good for little kids, they get too hyper too easily.
Peewee pizzas
Spread tomato sauce onto an eglish muffin. Add cubes of cheese. Microwave on high until the cheese melts. Let the child make a pizza face with cut vegetables
I got that from a book
These aren't really recipes but kids love 'em.
Cooked hotdog sliced into half inch peices.Cinnimon toast."Magic bananas" get a banana and a toothpick, insert the toothpick at one of the banana seems until it touches the peel at the other side, and sweep the toothpick back and forth slicing the banana. I usually make the slices about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. This is really good for children under 8."in season fruit" in cream. Take what ever fruit they like, or is in season, clean them, slice them if you need to, put them in a bowl, add some milk and some sugar, or splenda to taste, stir and eat. If you can, take the children out and pick the fruit yourselfs for some extra fun. But, only do that if you have promission from the parents, and you know how to tell if the fruit is ripe!Last but not least, tomatoe sandwhiches. Just slice a tomato, and add bread. You can also add mayonase and salt to taste.
I got a little confused with the directions for "magic bananas"...could you explain it a different way?
And cinnamon toast was my FAVORITE breakfast or snack when I was younger -- and still is sometimes!!
And try putting cheese on a tomato sandwich and grilling it -- basically, a grilled cheese with tomato. Yummy.
Cool I'll try that!
For the "magic bananas" you are basically slicing the banana without peeling it.
You know where the banana peel has "seams"? Insert a toothpick in the seam about an inch down from the end, then sweep the toothpick left and right slicing the fruit, but not the peel.
Then remove the toothpick and reinsert it about 1/2 inch down and repeat. Repeat until you reach about an inch from the bottom of the banana.
and it should end up looking something like this when the child peels the banana. =)
Oh my gosh, that is so awesome. That's about the coolest thing I've ever heard, and I bet a lot of kids would get a kick out of that. Thanks for the pictures! lol
I used to take bananas with me for lunch when I was in high school, and my friends thought I was nuts when I would make one long slice down the peel of the banana and eat the banana out of the peel like it was a pocket or long dish. (Instead of peeling it like a normal person.)
Your very welcome!
