What should I Charge?

ggfan 08-23-2007, 7:48 AM
I've been babysitting for five years and am CPR certified. Tomorrow I will be babysitting for a neighbor for the first time. She has a four month old who will only be awake for an hour. (I am babysitting from 7-11pm.) What should I charge?

(I was thinking about $7/hr but I would love to here what others recommend!)

If you've been babysitting for five years, then you already have a set rate.  Once the child is asleep for the night, cut the rate by 50% since you're only there for emergencies at that point.

Thanks. I told her $6/hr would be fine but I was refered to her from a neighbor with two young boys whom I charge $8/hr and so she said she would be willing to pay me that much. She has a nanny during the day that she pays $10/hr for so I guess I was a good deal!
