WHAT SHOULD I CHARGE????

countrygirl 08-31-2007, 8:25 PM
I am a mother of 2 with about 15 yrs of experience. I have taken an adult CPR class as well as infant/child CPR but have not been re-certified. I live in Central Ohio and was wondering what I should charge. From what I understand, the going rate around here is about $2/hr per child. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I live in Virginia and the going rate for teenagers is a flat rate of $7/hr and $1/hr for each additional child. College students, nannies, and older babysitters tend to charge more...A flat rate of $8-9/hr and $1/hr for each additional child.

Rates may be lower in Ohio but you should still be making at least minimum wage!

Well, with all the experience, you should charge $9 and then an extra $1 every additional child

I agree with gege. $9/hr plus an extra $1/hr sounds fair.

$2/hr is not nearly enough.

The absolute lowest I would say to go is $7/hr plus $1/hr per additional child, but with your experience, especially being that you're also a mom (even more experience), the $9 is more appropriate.

I guess it just depends on where you live. As for myself, I have been babysitting for 3 years while working/going to college and I usually charge $20/hr. and the families I babysit does not seem to have a problem with that.  I live in Northern California.

the very least you should expect would be $7 plus $1 each additional child.
