Rates...Opinions please

I'm 14 years old and I love to babysit. I have only babysat a couple of times in the past few years, probably less than 10 times. I am first aid and CPR certified, and I'm also certified with Safe Sitter.

A few months ago, I babysat for a family with five children (ages 1-10) for 7 hours. (I wasn't CPR cetrtified at the time.) I had the three younger children for the morning, and all five in the afternoon. I got $40 (under $6 an hour). The grandfather was there, but he wasn't involved in any way (I barely even saw him). I'm pretty sure $40 was a bit low, and I knew it was low at the time, because the mother would not have paid any more.

For the rates next time I babysit (for any other family), this is what I'm thinking:
$6 an hour base rate
$1 more per hour per child for 3 or more children
$1 off per hour for a day of 6 or more hours that ends (approx.) before 8:00 pm.

I'd like some opinions and suggestions on these rates. Also, how much do you think the CPR certification should increase a rate? Any other feedback is also appreciated.

Hey there,

I like your rates very much. Your $1/hour off is something new I haven't seen before, and if you're comfortable with the extra math, you should be fine. :)

For CPR certification, I think it usually increases the rate by $1/hour. Make sure to bring along both your certification card and contact info for your references when you interview with a family.

Your rates sound great to me. I think they are very realistic for your age/experience. I agree that CPR is about a dollar/hour extra.
