im not sure where these people live but look at this i find this crazy in a few ways.  i know you can't charge people with less $ the same amount but come on are you kidnn' me?

Lower Class- $1-2/hour
* Lower Middle Class- $2-3/hour
* Middle Class- $3-4/hour
* Upper Middle Class- $4-5/hour
* Upper Class- $5-6/hour

it does have some good things though.

Looks like the website was last updated in 2000, almost seven years ago.

But as with all things, we listen to the advice of others, but pass it through our own judgment and experiences.

On a related note, how the heck is a 16-year-old supposed to gauge at exactly what income bracket a family falls into?  I know a few millionaires who live well below their income level, and are rich exactly because of that frugality.  How insulting for a pride-filled hard-working parent to find out that the rate you charge them reflects the fact that you find them to be a "low class" family!

you put into words what i couldn't.  thanks.  that was what i thought.  and you can charge less for people that are having problems financially but it looks like they are charging more for the higher income families.  (well the # are still low but still) you can give people breaks but it's not ethical to charge people more $ just because they have more money than some of your other clients.

Right on.

The rest is awesome, though.  Aside from rates, childcare is a pretty much unchanging field.  There are no "technological advances" in how children are made or how they work -- only their toys!  Three-year-olds today aren't much different than they were a century ago, and they like a lot of the same things for the same reasons.  The website compiles a lot of good information and tips.  :)

There are some things that don't make sense on that website. If you click "Take the Babysitting Quiz" it will take you to a page with 10 questions. Question #9 is (True or False) "A baby sitter can play tricks on the kids (Early bedtime, etc.), just as long as they are harmless." According to that website, the answer is true!
I think playing tricks on the children is cruel, irresponsible, and a good way NOT to get asked to babysit again. It's not going to help the kids trust you or like you, either!
