Hi everyone! Ok so here's the deal. I had a two and half year relationship with a family that recently ended. During that time I only had about 2 or 3 other regular families that I babysatt for because I spent so much time with the other family. Since I went back to highschool, the SAHM decided that she wanted more help duing the daytime hours and has hired a nanny who has now replaced me. So now I am at a loss. The other few families that I had have found other babysitters because I was so rarely available to them, so I am not really needed in the same way there either. I am 18 years old, have 7 years experience, have been a full time nanny, am CPR certified, a certified babysitter, I have experience with children ages 12 days to 13 years, have a criminal background check, a child abuse history clearance, and my FBI clearance. I have a lisence and a car, and am planning on majoring in elementary education and am currently interning in local schools as a preservice teacher. My questions is now... why cant I get jobs????? My rate is not unreasonably high ($10/hr is acutally low where I live and for my age/experience) and I have good availability. I love children and babysitting, and am a very mature reliable person. I just dont know what to do right now. I never had problems getting jobs before. I really need the money too, for college and christmas shopping and stuff (but thats not the main problem). Any advice on how to get jobs and how to safely advertise?? I have people spreading the word, but it just doesnt seem to be working, so I'm out of ideas since thats how I always got jobs before. Any advice?

Try posting a profile on various sitter-family matching websites, such as CallforSitters.com. Also, post in the Childcare section of Craigslist.org.
However, always be sure to bring a parent along when meeting a family for the first time. The family will be happy to meet your parent, and it will tell them you have a good head on your shoulders, and this will also ensure your safety. You may be 18, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks Chosen7Stone, yea I had thought about trying a website, but were not sure how to do it safely. Thank you for the advice on taking a parent with me and showing me how to do it safely- thats a great idea and makes me feel alot better about sitting for someone I met over the internet. As always, I greatly appreciate your advice.
