That works out to about 24 hours a week! Are you sure you're ready to work those kinds of hours while you're in school? I'm in college and am working less than that and it's HARD. Not only is it dificult to study the appropriate amount, but I don't see my family and friends nearly as much I'd like to. Before you decide to absolutely take the job, think about it very carefully.

Baby-sitting an eight year old shouldn't be too taxing. You'll probably be responsible for making sure she gets her homework done and eats dinner. You'll probably have a chance to get some of YOUR homework done while she's working on hers, but you are four years older than her so you will more than likely have much more than her. Since you are so close in age, you will be in the position of role-model for this girl.

Rate wise, if you decide to take the job, I wouldn't go higher than $5/ an hour. That would work out to be $120/ a week. That's a lot of cash for someone who is not yet able to get a job at a grocery store. $3.50-4/ hour is probably more reasonable.

Good luck!

Shamrock gave great advice on that one. I agree.

I am homeschooled so I don't really have to juggle school with babysitting so it's not horrible. Me and my 11 year old sis babysit the 8 year old but I do most of the stuff like play with her and stuff. She gets really hyper and she'll cry when she doesn't get her way and when I put her to sleep and give her food she'll stay up and not listen to me.  I was thinking about after my birthday (nov. 28th) asking her mom to raise the price to $3-$4 an hour but I don't know what a fair price is. Thanks for the advice. I wouldn't ask $5 an hour because thats too much. We normally watch her from somewhere from 7-9 pm. But I only get paid $2 for 2 people watching an 8 year old. I think we should get paid at least $3 an hour. Thanks for the advice, anyways. Can you give me some more advice??

I think $3 - $4 an hour is fair.

As for the home school thing, I can relate. I was homeschooled part of high school and I now homeschool my children.

That's good that you won't have to be doing homework. Then, you can just focus on playing with the kids.

To get her to stay in bed, try lying next to her and reading her favorite story, but read it slow, making your voice long and drawn out. That should do the trick.

Hope that helps. Big Smile [:D]
