I've been babysitting a 6 year old boy who doesn't have a bedtime on weekends or days when he doesn't have school in the morning. On weekends when his parents are out late, I don't know what to do with him because he gets bored, and usually doesn't want to do anything I suggest. Sometimes his parents give me a certain time to have us clean up whatever we took out and then say to do something "quiet" - but he usually doesn't get tired, and when he does, he wants to stay up to wait for his parents. So does anyone have some ideas that are fun and won't take too long to clean up?

Hey Lindsay,

I can't think of anything that would take more than a minute or two to clean-up, as long as you put away one thing before taking out the next.

My parents always taught me to clean up each toy when I was finished with it, before moving onto the next thing -- this meant that instead of needing to devote 15-20 minutes to clean-up at the end of the day, I would only clean-up for about 20 seconds, and be back to play-time.

No matter what -- art, indoor "sports," action figures, Hot Wheels -- all of these things are super-quick clean-up...if you're only cleaning up one thing each time. :)
